Debt Funds invest only in debt instruments such as Corporate Bonds, Government Securities and Money Market instruments either completely avoiding any investments in the stock markets as in Income Funds or Gilt Funds or having a small exposure to equities as in Monthly Income Plans or Children's Plan. Hence they are safer than equity funds. At the same time the expected returns from debt funds would be lower. Such investments are advisable for the risk-averse investor and as a part of the investment portfolio for other investors.

Magnum NRI Investment Fund
- The scheme offers three Plans for investment - Short Term Bond Plan, Long Term Bond Plan and FlexiAsset Plan. All Plans have Growth and Dividend Options. The returns under the Growth option to be through capital appreciation only.
- The Short Term Bond Plan invests its entire corpus only in investment grade debt instruments such as Government Securities, Corporate Bonds and Debentures and Money Market instruments. The Dividend option under the Short Term Bond Plan endeavours to declare dividends on a monthly basis subject to the availability of distributable surplus. Investments in Corporate Bonds and Debentures to be in instruments with maturity not exceeding five years. However, the average maturity of the scheme under normal market conditions would be around 365 days and will be an ideal investment avenue for investors with an investment horizon of six months to one year.

The Dividend option under the Long Term Bond Plan would endeavour to declare dividends on a quarterly basis subject to the availability of distributable surplus.
